2014 Zoobilee Highlights

  • Opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with CHEETAHS!
Cheetahs, “Khayam” and “Mchumba” will be on loan to the Topeka Zoo from Wildlife Safari, located in Winston, Oregon. They represent 2 of the 174 cheetahs that have been born at the park. These statistics place Wildlife Safari as one of the top breeders of cheetahs in the United States and Western Hemisphere. Cheetahs are native to Africa. With less than 10,000 of them remaining in the wild, they are considered endangered.
A one-of-a-kind opportunity to get your photo taken with a Cheetah will be available the night of Zoobilee for a fee.

This year’s event is sure to be an exciting one beginning with a very special announcement and tribute to Gary K. Clarke, Director Emeritus of the Topeka Zoo. Join us for a champagne toast as we celebrate a very exciting project that will be coming to your Topeka Zoo - and you'll be one of the first to hear the news! Following the announcement, guests will enjoy animal encounters, live entertainment, and tasty treats as you explore the zoo grounds.

No safari is complete without up-close encounters with the animals, and guests will be entranced by the behind-the-scenes access to the zoo's permanent residents.  Grazing stations will feature appetizers and entrees from some of Topeka’s top restaurants. Stop at various watering holes to enjoy beer, wine, amazing cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, including a specialty cocktail that will call to  mind the exotic land of Africa!  Satiate those taste buds with delectable treats at the many dessert stations.
